  • GTCP 131-9B APU
  • GTCP 331-200 APU

Honeywell GTCP 131-9[B] APU

Honeywell’s 131-9[B] Series Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is the latest member of the 131-9 family of APUs and specifically designed for single-aisle aircraft. APUs are small jet engines that provide compressed air for main engine starting, air conditioning and electrical power on the ground or in flight.

The 131-9[B] Series Aircraft APU was designed specifically to match the requirements of air transport aircraft, and applies to the Boeing 737NG. The unit starts and operates to 41,000 feet, delivering 154 pounds of air per minute at 52 pounds-per-square-inch for environmental control systems and main engine starting. Its generator is also capable of supplying full electrical power for the aircraft in the event of an emergency.

The 131-9[B] APU produces its rated power with lower exhaust gas temperature than previous designs, and test units were run for more than 21,000 hours before any APUs were put into service. Honeywell has designed the APU so when service is needed, all line-replaceable units in the 131-9 can be removed and replaced in the field in 15 minutes or less.

Delta TechOps GTCP 131-9[B] – Aircraft APU Experience

  • APU MRO services since 1999
  • Over 25 average annual aircraft engine overhaul shop visits
  • Average overhaul turnaround time 45 days (individual TAT varies by work scope and terms)

Honeywell GTCP 331-200 APU

The first electronically controlled Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in the world, Honeywell’s 331-200 series represented a breakthrough in engine development and manufacturing. Through the use of the same internal design as an existing turboprop engine, engine development time and manufacturing cost were greatly reduced. The in-flight operation of the 331-200 series APU allows two-engine Boeing 757 and 767 commercial aircraft to fly extended ranges because the Aircraft APU provides back-up electrical power during flight in the unlikely event of a main engine failure.

Delta TechOps GTCP 331-200 – Aircraft APU Experience

  • APU MRO services since 1984
  • Over 120 average annual aircraft engine overhaul shop visits
  • Average overhaul turnaround time 40 days (individual TAT varies by work scope and terms)
