Delta prepares to take delivery of first Boeing 737-900ER

September 25, 2013 – In September, Delta will begin to take delivery of the first of 100 Boeing 737-900ERs as the aircraft is in the final phases of testing. Construction and assembly of the initial 737-900ER shell was completed at Boeing’s single-aisle factory in Renton, Wash. in August.

The new 737-900ERs will be equipped with onboard Wi-Fi and 180 seats, including 20 first class seats, 21 Economy Comfort seats and 139 Economy seats. Each seat is also equipped with a video monitor, 110v AC power port and USB port.

Delta plans to place the first few aircraft into service in early November, with initial routes to be flown between Atlanta, Los Angeles, Detroit and San Francisco. The aircraft is primarily a replacement for Delta’s 183-seat Boeing 757s.
