February 19, 2013—Delta TechOps christened a new line maintenance operations center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport well ahead of new service set to begin from Seattle this summer.
The space will serve a coordination center for the 76 line maintenance professional technicians who support Delta’s fleet at SeaTac airport as well as Delta’s hangar adjacent to the south satellite terminal.
“This space will go a long way to help boost efficiency of the line maintenance work in Seattle,” said Lee Gossett, Vice President - Line Maintenance, who attended the grand opening. “Line maintenance plays a big role in supporting a industry leading completion factor for Delta and our MRO customers.”
Seattle line maintenance supports a busy domestic and transoceanic schedule. This summer, the team will lend support to the upguaged Tokyo-Narita hub service on a 747-400, new Shanghai service on the 767-300ER and Tokyo-Haneda also on the 767-300ER.
Additional hiring will take place in the weeks ahead to meet the needs of the operation, said Tim Steele, Manager - Line Maintenance.
